Fifty Shades Has Arrived

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past week you've heard about the upcoming 50 Shades of Grey Trailer which premiered today. The internet was definitely buzzing with the arrival of E L James bestseller finally getting the Hollywood treatment.

Now I read the book after a couple months of it being EVERYWHERE my junior year of high school. It was smut. So. Much. Smut. But it was still a really enticing read, you didn't want to put it down. The movie has to be rated R, and is going to be, but even so I still don’t know how they’re going to put it on a movie screen. I’m fascinated to watch it and just to see how the adaptation transfers to the screen. 

The trailer gives us all of the first portion of the novel when Ana Steele meets Christian Grey for her interview. The scene is pulled directly from the book, and almost exactly how I imagined. Did I imagine Ana and Christian looking that way, no, but the scene looks exact. All I know it will be a very interesting Valentine’s Day in theaters.

After a lot of production difficulties with trying to fill the roles of Ana and Christian it was interesting to see the two actors, Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson, on screen together. Whether they have palpable chemistry or not is still up in the air. But the onscreen chemistry is the single most important thing in making this movies a success. It’s going to make money either way, people will pay to see it come Valentine’s Day. If they believe and by into the chemistry of Ana and Christian on screen, as they did in the book, there’s no telling how much money and how successful this movie franchise can be.

Beyonce has already signed her seal of approval with the new crazy in love rendition, and we all know anything Queen Bey approves of is as good as gold.
