Outfit of the Day

It's FRIDAY! If you don't love Friday, and the fact that the weekend is upon us, then you need to reevaluate your life. This has been a week I am glad has finally ended, I just can't wait till college, and not seeing some peoples faces everyday. Just looking forward to relaxing in the city tomorrow with some of my favorite people. It's going to be a fun weekend.

Homecoming week

It's been awhile, SORRY! It's homecoming week at my school and the teachers always bombard us with a bunch of homework this week, so we aren't too distracted, plus so we aren't taking pictures all class hour. So being a senior ( SENIORS 13 WOOHOO) we get to have our own spirit days in contrast to what the school does. Now there was some drama concerning that. We were basically told if we did our own spirit days this week we would not be able to go to the Homecoming Dance. Long story short we rebelled, got a local newspaper involved, and ended up on the front page of it the next day, and were spoken about on the radio...So here's a little glimpse of what my week has consisted of.

Monday: CEOs and Office Hoes.

Now I am no Hoe, I don't think I even know how to dress trashy (my motto in life is: Always classy, never trashy) so I went with a different approach. I dressed like the hot female boss that all the male employs can't help but eye, sexy, sophisticated not trashy.

Tuesday: 80s Workout

This photo is courtesy of the Huntley Voice...gosh I love this picture

Wednesday: Superhero

I was really sick the day before this, I had no time to plan and execute a nice outfit. I just dressed up really nice to hide from the fact I couldn't participate. I however don't have a picture of that outfit, I came home and just cracked down on all my homework, I should have taken a blow-off senior year.

Thursday: Huntley Hoedown

Girls take the HOE in hoedown to a new level on this day; they forgot the motto: Always classy, never trashy.

Friday: Senior Blackout

Every grade has a class color the freshman wear gray, the sophomores wear white, the juniors wear red, and the SENIORSSS wear black. A bunch of the seniors coordinated together to make senior shirts, but I don't know, I just wasn't feeling it. I wore black, but I kinda did my own thing.

I'm about to leave for tailgating and then the homecoming football game in a couple of hours (or minutes). I get to do interviews and be Oprah again like I was in the other post I made.

Football is kinda related to fashion...

We have a state recognized student section (if you can count a Comcast poll as state recognized) and while I came to the football game last night as a fan with friends, an opportunity presented itself. One of my Editors, from the school newspaper, asked if I wanted to do some fan interviews about "Raider Nation" and the upcoming homecoming week, naturally I said yes, why not. Guys, I now know why Oprah loves the job she does, video interviews are fun (and I'm guessing Oprah doesn't hate the couple billion she makes). The combination of interviewing everyone with the fact we rushed the field at the end of the night, made it a day I will never forget. There are moments in life where you just feel infinite, like the stars are aligned and for a few moments, or minutes everything seems, perfect. Last night was one.

The theme of the game was costumes, if anyone was wondering what was up with some of the outfits.

Us rushing the football field! It was such an interesting experience I had to add "rush a football field" to my bucket list just so I could cross it off. Yeah, i'm sentimental like that.

Outfit of the Day

New York Fashion Week is slowly coming to a close. Two collections left and it's over. I got dressed this morning, on the last full day of runway shows, and wanted to honor the day in a bittersweet way. The outfit is fun, but not too fun. It's mature, but not too mature. I have a lot of fun dressing into more business like attire. One day I will probably be working in the business world, whether it is through my plans of fashion, or in a corporate setting. The way I see it, this is just practice for who I am to become one day. I believe that we must dress, and act like the person we want to be, we shouldn’t lose our true identity, but transform and mold it.

NYFW: Marchesa

This is the one collection I have been waiting for. Over the past 4 years Marchesa has blossomed and transformed, and become one of my favorite labels. They take Grecian inspired gowns to a whole new level. They mix the days of Troy with the 1920s and create pure brilliance. Their whimsical aesthetic never changes, yet Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig have been able to season after season, year after year, offer us something new and original. This year they did not fail. The collection seemed to have drawn inspiration from India, from traditional everyday garb to costume pieces. Many of the looks looked like a vamped up version of old Bollywood outfits for a more modern, less conservative time. I have deiced that if I ever get married (I personally don't feel marriage is something that is a necessity in my life) the Marchesa gals will be creating my dress. On a sooner timeline however, Georgina, Keren, make my prom dress?

NYFW: Dennis Basso

I wonder what rock I have been living under for the past 17 years, that I never heard of Dennis Basso. This collection is pulled out of one of my dreams. If I didn't follow CFDA on instagram I would never have discovered the splendor that is Dennis Basso (thank god I do). These dresses are what my fantasies of Prom look like. We all arrive in ball gowns, our escorts all have tailored Tom Ford tuxedos on, and we waltz the night away. Instead I will probably be treated to girls in extremely revealing, tacky, crystallized gowns, and men in tuxedos sub-par to that of Tom Ford. *sigh* Dennis Basso hire a new marketing team, your name NEEDS to be out there on a wider scale.

NYFW: Zac Posen

I'm a little late on this one, but better late than never. The Zac Posen collection is one of my favorites so far for S/S 2013. I fell in love with the below the knee skirts, sweetheart necklines, and delicate cap sleeves. Zac Posen presented what he is known for, sophisticated, luxurious clothing.  Not only were the clothes exquisite, but the soundtrack that Posen choose to accompany the collection just threw me into a whimsical happy place. What's better than some good Etta James?

I was extremely happy to find out Herieth Paul walked during the Zac Posen S/S 2013 collection. Herieth Paul, remember her name. I first noticed this model in a spread in Teen Vogue a few months back. Took one look at her, and just fell in love with her facial features. She isn't a "new face" anymore, but she is still extremely unknown. I see stardom in her future. (fingers crossed it happens)

Outfit of the Day

 (Express sweater, Converse All-Star sneakers)

I woke up this morning and was ready to embrace our first 70 degree day of fall. I usually go for a very accessorized  look, however with the glittered converse and metallic embellished sweater, I decided I was blinged out enough. My earrings and bracelets can get a rest day.

(Close up on the Converse All-Stars)

Here we go.

I have mulled over the idea of creating a fashion blog for quite some time now. It's something I said I would do once junior year started, but it never happened. Then once I got a smart phone I said I'd start, but still it never happened. Then once I got a functioning camera I again said I would start, but it never happened. You catching a pattern? Now it's happening. A friend at school actually gave me the final push. Commenting casually on my outfit she said I should start an outfit of the day blog. Well, here it is. My daily fashion journal, you could say. Everything from my favorite trends, to new collections, to fashion week, to "street style" (more like hallway style) at my school, and of course outfits of the day. Welcome to my Dawn Choices.
